Calm Kids Collective is a special place for children to build connections, engage in creativity and cultivate mindfulness skills for life.

About

Our Calm Kids Collective program is designed to cater to children’s developmental and emotional needs. With no religious or spiritual affiliation, Meredith uses her formal meditation training and thirteen years of experience as a primary school educator to bring creative, dynamic, and fun meditation programs to children.

The Research

The Australian Centre for Meditation and Mindfulness states that primary school aged children are developing fundamental skills relating to; socialisation, self-regulation, cooperation, interdependence and a healthy understanding of who they are in the world. Furthermore, they are cultivating a deeper understanding of their thoughts, feelings and how their emotions can affect others.

Meditation and Mindfulness is crucial for allowing children to discover lifelong skills contributing to resilience, self-regulation, health, emotional literacy and happiness.

Program Overview

Meredith is passionate about supporting children to discover invaluable tools to navigate life’s changes. Each week, students will have the space to explore mindfulness skills in addition to receiving a calming and relaxing guided meditation that Meredith has written for children. Our Calm Kids’ Collective program, designed for 7-11-year-olds, provides the space for children to:

  • Learn age-appropriate mindfulness skills and how to utilise these skills in everyday life.

  • Develop a deeper understanding of their thoughts and emotions. 

  • Have the space to harness their problem-solving skills and creative expression through Mindful Artmaking and Mindful Movement. 

  • Discover meditation techniques and tools designed especially for children, including breathing, meditation for relaxation, grounding, and visualisation. 

  • Uncover healthy habits for their body and mind through modelling, nurturing support and age-appropriate story books.

  • A supportive space and strategies to allow for greater self-compassion and decrease stress, anxiety or worry

  • Receive a guided meditation each week and have time to discuss, reflect and integrate taught skills.

Course includes:

  • Six sessions, 75-minutes per week

  • Weekly email correspondence for parents that includes a summary of each week’s focus and some simple tasks to practice meditation at home.

  • A complimentary gift from Meredith, a Calm Kids Collective journal.

  • All art materials and tools are provided.

  • Meredith values supporting each student’s growth and development, this workshop has limited spaces.

What to Expect: Shortly after booking, we send parents a welcome email containing further information about the workshop and a link to a short survey. We use the information in this survey to best support your child and their workshop experience.

Facilitator Qualifications:

Primary school educator with thirteen years of experience · Former Assitant Principal · Smiling Mind Champion · Advanced Certificate in Meditation and Mindfulness ACMM- specialising in meditation for Parents and Children · Diploma in Fine Art · Current Working with Children Check number: WWC1574284E · Insured with IICT · Current First Aid Training.
